BERLIN -- NBC's international TV arm has licensed a Mandarin-language version of "Access Hollywood" in the People's Republic of China.
Deal
was unveiled Tuesday by Leslie Jones, VP of international sales and
format production for NBC Universal Intl. Television Distribution,
which will distribute "Access Hollywood China."
The Chinese series, produced in Beijing, airs as a one-hour weekly program hosted by Chen Juan.
Produced
via a consultancy arrangement through Small World Television, "Access
Hollywood China" now can be seen throughout the People's Republic of
China.
The series recently added Asian actor and supermodel Hu
Bing to its lineup as an international segment celebrity and features
local Chinese entertainment stories, as well as content from the U.S.
syndicated series.
"The fact that 'Access Hollywood' is being
produced in Beijing with a Chinese host, and the majority of the
content is shot in China, is a testament to how well this format adapts
culturally," Jones said.
"The appetite for international
entertainment lifestyle content in China is increasing dramatically,"
said Jon Goodman, CEO of Small World Television.
"Access Hollywood" is in its 11th season in U.S. national syndication.
