Japanese toon network Animax has tapped Masato Oda as deputy president and general manager of the joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment (Japan) and four Japanese animation studios -- Toei, Sunrise, TMS Entertainment and Nihon Ad Systems.
Oda
takes charge of day-to-day operational management and development of

announcement was made Aug. 29 by Masao Takiyama, president and rep director of Animax Broadcast Japan, a subsid of Sony Pictures Television Intl.
Oda was previously based at SPTI's global HQ in Culver City, where he was exec director of marketing for the networks group, which includes more than 50 channels in 135 countries.
