TOKYO -- Tokyo Broadcasting System, one of Japan's major TV networks, plans to expand its broadband service to include new pics and shows from TBS and TBS satellite service BS-i.
On Nov. 11, eight days before the theatrical bow of TBS' drama "New Type: Just for Love" (New Type: Tada, ai no tame ni), TBS will offer the pic on its IPTV broadband service TBS BooBo Box for 1,000 yen ($9) per view.
This is the first pre-release broadband PPV offering by a major network.
TBS hopes this will stir up media and fan interest in the pic, as well as making it available in rural areas without theaters.
In addition, TBS plans to webstream certain of its new terrestrial and satellite programming, including dramas, variety shows, musical shows and sports matches, as well as original content.
TBS BooBo Box is available on a wide range of major broadband platforms.
