Singapore cable network operator StarHub Digital Cable has launched a 'true on-demand' package, Demand TV.

It will make content available for one-off purchases and through monthly subscriptions allowing unlimited usage.

Single purchase content includes English Premier League soccer matches, wrestling, a selection of Hollywood, Indian and Indonesian movies, CBS series 'CSI" and "Numb3rs" and TV dramas from Hong Kong's TVB.          Subscription section starts with five channels which can be individually bought: Disney Channel @ Play, VV Drama On Demand and TVBJ On Demand, a new non-linear Hokkien-language channel and another soccer package.           “Harnessing technology to place greater flexibility into the hands of our customers has always been an ongoing process for StarHub," Patrick Lim, StarHub’s head of cable TV services, said.

New channel and service launches highlight the competitive environment in Singapore where StarHub faces a one year-old IPTV service operated by telecoms group SingTel.
