"Knight" continues reign in Korea Print E-mail

SEOUL – "The Dark Night" topped the Korean box office for the second consecutive weekend. Pic added 760,000 admissions for three weekend days on 463 screens, lifting its gross to $15 million to date.

"The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" ranked at No.2 with 320,000 weekend admissions, taking its cume to $23.7 million since its release on July 31.

Local horror "Death Bell" continued its unexpected success through a second weekend at No.3. Distributor and investor SK telecom reportedly passed break even point with a $7 million gross from 1.12 million admissions.

Four other local films make the chart. "DACHIMAWA LEE", a Manchurian spy actioner by helmer Ryu Seung-wan ("The City of Violence") ranked at No. 4, taking a $2.1 million gross at 340 screens for distributor Showbox. Prime Entertainment comedy "Baby and I" came in seventh, grossing $1.2 million on 200,000 admissions. The year's top film "The Good, The Bad, The Weird" ranked at No.6 taking its cume to $39.4 million, while "Eye for an Eye" shifted down to eighth with a $9.1 million cume.

Pixar' animation "WALL-E" ranked at No.5 with a $ 4.2 million gross, while "The X-Files: I Want To Believe" debuted at No.9 grossing only $1 million on 169,000 admissions.
