Fox Japan's second domestic pic is the drama "Gunjo," helmed by Yosuke Nakagawa

Based on a popular magazine serial by Ayako Miyagi that will be published in book form next month, the pic stars super-idol Masami Nagasawa as an emotionally fragile young woman recovering from her boyfriend's death at her father's home in Okinawa.

"Gunjo," is getting local buzz because it features the 21-year-old actress's first real love scene.

Pic wrapped on Aug. 5 and is set for a spring bow. Fox is reportedly aiming at a slot in the Berlin Film Festival in February.

Nagasawa, who shot to prominence in the 2004 megahit weeper "Crying Out Love in the Center of the World," also starred in the TBS-produced drama "Nada Sou Sou -- Tears for You," which earned $28.4 million in 2006.

Although Hollywood distribs in Japan, including Warner and Sony, have been cranking up production of domestic pics, Fox's only local production and distribution credit prior to "Gunjo" was a 2002 Hideyuki Hirayama black comedy, "Out."
