HELSINKI -- Finnish documentary filmmmaker Arto Halonen has been denied entry to Beijing, where he was to attend the Olympics as part of a delegation of Finnish cultural dignitaries.
Halonen said he was turned down because his 1998 doc, "Karmapa -- Two Ways of Divinity," dealt with China's religious and cultural oppression of Tibet.
Despite ruffling Chinese feathers, "Karmapa" played in the Hong Kong Film Festival in 1999 and received the European Union Humanitarian Award.
