California State Sen. Yee has been gunning for games like "Manhunt 2" and "Grand Theft Auto IV" for years. As the author of a controversial 2005 bill that prohibits sale or rental of extremely violent videogames to children, the Democrat was dealt a blow last year when a U.S. District Court granted a permanent injunction against the violent videogame law.
Yee, a trained child psychologist, believes playing games in which violent or sexual acts can be performed on an entity intended to represent another human may interfere with empathy development. The State of California filed an appeal of the injunction in January, and Yee intends to take part in the process. "I'm ready, and I look forward to this fight for our children's safety," he says.
