Gotham-based foundation Global Film Initiative has snapped up North American rights to Indonesian movie "The Photograph," which had its European bow this month at the Karlovy Vary fest.
Pic about a fallen woman who starts over with the help of a photographer was directed by femme helmer Nan Achnas and produced by Achnas, Shanty Harmayn and Paquita Widjaja-Aftef.
Pic's Buenos Aires-based sales agent Film Sharks reports that Global Film Initiative is seeking a release in 40 North American cities.
"The Photograph" was released in Indonesia in July last year and screened in Pusan 2007. At Karlovy Vary it scooped the Special Jury Prize and top honors from the Ecumenical jury.
Film Sharks previously licensed pic to distribbers in France, Brazil and India.
