BUCHEON -- Korea’s animated character “Robot Taekwon V” has been appointed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as Korea’s goodwill envoy.
It is the first time the org has picked a toon character to represent it.
The robot, known as Voltar the Invincible in the U.S., will be used to publicize the plight of refugees around the world for a year.
“Robot Taekwon V” is being developed into a live-action film by Shin Cine with Hollywood producer William Teitler attached as a consultant. Shin Cine prexy Shin Chule will receive the UNHCR certificate at the Puchon Intl. Fantastic Film Festival on Thursday.
