TOKYO -- CoFesta, an umbrella org for 15 media-related events and markets, skedded from September 30 to October 28, has announced changes for its second edition.

Formally called Japan International Content Festival, CoFesta brings Japanese contents to the world in one big, month-long package, including music, comics, games, TV shows and pics, culminating with its centerpiece event, the Tokyo International Film Festival, from October 18 to 26. The sked is 11 days shorter than last year's 40 days.

CoFesta executive producer Yutaka Shigenobu, chairman of TV production house TV Man Union, told reporters on Wednesday that despite attendance of 800,000 at last year's Co-Festa events, "A lack of coordination means that international exchange wasn't all we had hoped for."

To facilitate that exchange, this year CoFesta plans to set up an information center in Omesando -- a trendy, centrally located Tokyo neighborhood, where foreign visitors can easily access info to CoFesta activities, as well as tourist spots in and around Tokyo.

CoFesta kicks off on September 30 with CEATEC Japan, a five-day showcase for digital contents companies, at the Makuhari Messe event space. Among other key events are the Tokyo Game Show (Oct. 9-12), Tokyo Asia Music Market (October 14-17), Japan Anime Collaboration Market (Oct. 17 -18) ,the TIFFCOM pic and TV market (Oct. 22-24), International Drama Festival in Tokyo (Oct. 22-23), Japan Prize 2008 International Contest for Educational Media (Oct. 22-28), Digital Contents Expo 2008 (Oct. 23-26) and the Tokyo International Film Festival (Oct. 18-26).
