HONG KONG – Games giant Electronic Arts has acquired Asian distribution rights to PC version of role playing game "Devil may cry 4" from Capcom.
EA will release it from July 17 in Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and The Philippines
Game has been a significant hit as a console game, selling more than two million units since February, but in much of Asia gamers prefer to play on PC or online.
"Capcom Asia believes that Electronic Arts’ strength in marketing and retail distribution will make the game an even bigger hit in Asia where PC gaming is widely popular,” Hiroshi Tobisawa, director of Capcom, said.
Set in a gothic supernatural universe, latest version of the game features two playable characters and high definition visuals moving at 60 frames per second.
"Devil May Cry is an internationally acclaimed franchise with a strong following and we are very excited to distribute this successful franchise in Asia,” said Chris Thompson, VP and General Manager for EA Asia.
Capcom publishes "Resident Evil" and "Street Fighter", which have already been adapted as movies and also publishes the "Mega Man" and "Bionic Commando" games.
