TOKYO -- Japanese Internet service provider So-net Entertainment and
media group GDH are pacting to develop business opportunities in the
toon market, GDH announced Friday.
The
pair will jointly develop toons based on "digital pet" characters in
So-net programs, including "PostPet" and "Livly Island." GDH animation
house Gonzo will feature these toons in its lineup. The partners also
will develop characters for toons and online games and create games
from toon titles.
One major goal is to integrate toons with
online services, such as So-net blog, So-net SNS and Gonzo Lounge, that
are based on consumer-generated content.
So-net Entertainment has operated the So-net ISP since 1996 and had just over 3 million subs as of September.
GHD provides toons for teens and young adults through its Gonzo brand. Its Gonzo Films and Gonzino brands serve preteens.
