1978

Mukta Films incorporated as a partnership.

1980

Releases first pic, "Karz."

1982

Becomes limited company, Mukta Arts Private Ltd.

1982-2000

Develops rep as leading production shingle, releases seven smash films in a row.

1998

Launches state-of-the-art studio, Audeus.

1998

Becomes first Indian shingle to use completion insurance. "Cine Mukta Policy" becomes industry standard.

2000

Launches first IPO by an Indian movie company, raises more than $20 million on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

2001

Sets up Whistling Woods project as a joint venture with the government of Maharashtra, plans integrated studio and training complex.

2003

Sets up integrated network of nine distribution offices around India.

2004

Pioneers digital exhibition in India in a joint venture with Adlabs.

2005

Launches a niche film brand, Mukta Searchlight, to concentrate on urban and modern themes. First film, "Iqbal," is a blockbuster.

2006

Opens Whistling Woods Intl. as Asia's largest film-TV school in Film City Mumbai.

2006-2008

Releasing four to five films a year, with a slate of seven projects in the pipeline to ramp up to 10 productions by 2010.

June 2008

Whistling Woods graduates its first class. Capacity of student body reaches 300.
