South Africa’s Videovision Entertainment made day one raids on Cannes sales companies and acquired a quintet of movies, including two from Competition.

Company bought Atom Egoyan’s Cannes competition film “Adoration” from Canada’s Maximum Films. And from 2929 Entertainment it secured James Gray’s “Two Lovers,” the competition film starring Joaquin Phoenix and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Also from 2929, Videovision bought Guillermo Arriaga’s “The Burning Plain” with Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger starring, and “The Road,” John Hilcoat’s adaptation of the Cormack McCarthy father and son tale which stars Viggo Mortensen, Robert Duvall and Charlize Theron.

In a separate deal with Wild Bunch it took hold of Darren Aronofsky’s Mickey Rourke, Evan Rachel Wood and Marisa Tomei starrer “The Wrestler.”
