Osian to honor filmmakers |

Indian
filmmaker Mrinal Sen and Jose “Pete” Lacaba will be given special
awards at the upcoming Osian’s-Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema.
The
New Delhi-based fest, now in its 10th frame, runs July 10-20, with a teaser
event in Mumbai June 13-14.
Sen
will receive a lifetime achievement award in recognition of a career that has
spanned feature films, shorts and documentaries of differing content and
cine-aesthetics.
Lacaba,
who receives the Aruna Vasudev Lifetime Achievement Award for Writing on
Cinema, is a bilingual poet, journalist, editor, translator, and screenwriter,
with books that include “The Films of ASEAN” and screenplay credits
that include “Jaguar,” “Bayan ko: Kapit sa patalim,” “Orapronobis,”
“Sister Stella L.,” “Eskapo,” “Segurista”
and “Rizal sa dapitan.”
