Tata Sky passes subs milestone |

HONG KONG – Tata Sky, the Indian satellite TV platform that is jointly owned by the Tata Group and News Corp. subsidiary STAR TV, has accumulated two million subscribers. It passed the landmark some 20 months after launch in 2006 and now offers 150 channels.
"We attribute the record sales numbers to our ongoing focus on providing cutting- edge technology, the most comprehensive channel lineup, innovative interactive services and top quality customer service,” CEO Vikram Kaushik said.
Company's interactive services are designed specifically for Indian auds and range from education and cookery to real-time religious content.
Faced with the imminent entry of two new DTH providers company plans to launch a high-end personal video recorder later this year.
