MADRID -- Spanish production-sales giant Filmax has taken most international rights on "Invitation Only" produced by Taiwanese shingle Three Dots Ent., its first Asian pickup.
Territories excluded from the deal are Asia, where Three Dots retains rights, Germany, Poland and Spain.
As with many of Filmax's Spanish pics, helmer Kevin Ko is a first-timer. Pic is about five young friends unexpectedly invited to an upscale party, which turns out to be an invitation to torture and murder.
Now in post, and shot in Mandarin and English, "Invitation Only" is written by Carolyn Lin and Sung In and produced by Michelle Yeh.
"Invitation Only" will be presented at this month's Cannes market.
Best known for genre pics, such as Brad Anderson's "Transsiberian" and Spanish zombie fest "REC," now a remake at Screen Gems, Filmax has co-production and sales relationships with Mexico through Lemon Films, and has a minority stake in Pablo Bossi's Pampa Films in Buenos Aires.
