LONDON – The Zee Cine Awards on Saturday night threw up few surprises in terms of prizes and prize-winners.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan won best actor for surprise hit sports movie "Chak De! India," which was also named best film, while Kareena Kapoor was named best actress for another massive hit "Jab We Met." Best director was Aamir Khan for "Taare Zameen Par." But the show itself was a major production number.

No expense was spared as Bollywood took over the Excel exhibition center in London's hip Docklands area.

Helmer-TV host and all round celebrity nice guy Karan Johar co-hosted the event with comedian Sajid Khan, even re-enacting the Richard Gere-Shilpa Shetty kiss that caused riots in India a few months back.

The four and a half hour show also included dozens of awards and celebrity song and dance acts by Shah Rukh Khan, Upen Patel, Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Jay Sean and Katrina Kaif.

Emotional high point was the lifetime achievement award given to veteran thesp Feroz Khan.
