HONG KONG -- "Guru," "Chak De India," "Jab We Met," "Om Shanti Om," "Partner" and "Life in a Metro" will compete in the best film category at the IDEA-IIFA Awards, one of the biggest awards shows in the Bollywood calendar.

          The event which moves around the world will be held in Bangkok, Thailand as highlight of a three day weekend spectacle (June 6-8), having last year dazzled at multiple venues around Yorkshire, England.

          Nominations were announced Wednesday by Amitabh Bachchan on behalf of International Indian Film Academy in New Delhi.

Surprise omission for the best film kudos appeared to be "Taare Zameen Par" (Every Child Counts), the acclaimed directorial debut of Aamir Khan which was the big hit at the end of 2007. Organizers explained that the movie's producers did not submit the required paperwork.

           Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor were nominated in the best actor category. Aishwarya Rai, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Tabu and Vidya Balan were nominated as best actress.

          Nominees for best helmer were Anurag Basu, David Dhawan, Imtiaz Ali, Mani Ratnam, Priyadarshan and Shimit Amin.
