HONG
KONG – Sony Pictures Entertainment Networks – Asia today (Tuesday) launches AXN
Beyond, a spin-off from its popular AXN net, on Hong Kong's Now TV
platform.
New net is branded as a destination for out-of
the ordinary entertainment, with a strong emphasis on sci-fi, suspense, horror,
mystery/fantasy, the paranormal and the supernatural. "Lost" and "Supernatural"
are the first shows to migrate from AXN to AXN Beyond. Net will also program
"Pushing Daisies" and older skeins “X-files” and “Buffy the Vampire
Slayer.”
On Now the channels can be bought singly or as
package.
First Beyond AXN derivative was launched in
the Philippines in January. Other Asian territories including Singapore and
Malaysia are being lined up for local feeds in the coming months.
Next month (May 7) sees the launch on Now of
GMA Pinoy TV, the first international channel from leading Philippines operator
GMA Network. Net is a general entertainment network that with news and public
affairs programs, quality entertainment shows, and dramas. Shows include
flagship newscast "24 Oras," the Philippines' longest running variety show, "Eat
Bulaga," and action-adventure series "Joaquin Bordado." Net is the first
Filipino channel to launch on Now.
Hong Kong has a population of some 140,000 Filipinos, of
which 120,000 are estimated to be maids and domestic helpers.
