CANNES -- MGM Studios chairman-CEO Harry E. Sloan will deliver a keynote speech at the two-day Amazia Entertainment Summit in November.

Summit kicks off Amazia, a new Asia-based entertainment content market and conference launched by the Reed Midem Organization that will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center Nov. 18-20.

Event focuses not only on TV and animation but music and vidgames as well, and has a strong emphasis on multiplatform distribution.

Sloan is the first announced keynote speaker at the summit, which will bring together some of the key media and entertainment figures from Asia, Australia, the U.S. and Europe. Sloan's recruitment comes days after Reed Midem tied down the support of the 170-member Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, an association-cum-lobby of the region's terrestial networks.

Some 135 Asian buyers had previously confirmed their participation.

Among the 160 exhibtors currently lined up are a strong presence of top Spanish-language broadcasters such as Televisa, Telemundo, Venevision and TV Azteca.

Reed Midem, the organizer of Mip TV, Mipcom, Midem and Milia TV, is owned by Variety's parent company, Reed Elsevier.
