TOKYO -- IBM Japan has launched a new contents
production infrastructure service, the company announced on Thursday at the
Tokyo Anime Fair.
The service, which started on March 27,
allows clients to access IBM's Deep Computing Capacity on Demand (DCCoD) Center,
where they can use
high-end data storage, processing, back-up and
security hardware and software when and how they need it, saving them the cost
of buying the entire
infrastructure themselves.
Among the companies joining what IBM calls its
"contents production infrastructure community" are Imagica, Kajima Construction,
Autodesk,
Wacom, Crypton Future Media and Microsoft. The
Tokyo Anime Center is serving the community as an advisor. The group's aim
is
to boost Japan's strength in pic, game, toon and other contents production.
