Network, Mei Ah join forces for "Warriors" Print E-mail

HONG KONG – Golden Network and Mei Ah Entertainment are to split rights to "An Empress and the Warriors" (Jiang shan meiren.)

          The martial art epic directed by Tony Ching Siu-tung was released in China last week to great effect. Handled  by Poly Bona, it clocked up some RMB20 million $3 million) since its March 7 preem and will next be released in Hong Kong through Golden Harvest. (See Variety review Feb 23, 2008.)

          Mei Ah has handled other Asian sales –and has largely sold out -- while Golden Network is handling the film in the rest of the world. Pic, which stars Donnie Yen, Kelly Chen and Leon Lai, was produced through United Filmmakers Organization.

  Sales to date include Group Power Workshop and Mei Ah in Taiwan, United Home Entertainment for Thailand, Mei Ah and Dream Movie in Singapore, Grand Brilliance for Malaysia, Vietnam Media for Vietnam, K & Entertainment for Korea and PT Teguh Bakti Mandiri for Indonesia. Outside the region it has sold to the UK's Showbox Media Group and Germany's Splendid.
