HONG KONG – News Corp.'s STAR TV offshoot has restructured its Fortune Star library and production division and appointed Yvonne Chuang as VP of program syndication and distribution.
New post sees Chuang, who starts March 10 and reports to STAR COO Laureen Ong, given oversight of the Fortune Star library. This includes more than 700 Hong Kong movies and over 20,000 hours of Indian and Chinese programming from STAR’s channels in India and Greater China.
Chuang was previously with Universe International and is currently VP of acquisitions and distribution at Celestial Pictures.
Fortune Star has seen key departures in recent months and its role in production now looks to be on the wane. "Fortune Star now stands for our Chinese movie library and TV content assets," sources said.
To increase operational efficiency, remaining Fortune Star team has been integrated into the STAR Group, with the production team members redeployed and reporting to David Searl, SVP of production, and its syndication and distribution team reporting to Chuang.
"Yvonne is a seasoned professional with a wide range of industry knowledge and hands-on experience, particularly in the areas of content sales, syndication and distribution," Ong said. "As STAR beefs up its own content production, Yvonne will be counted on to distribute our growing library worldwide to meet the increasing demand from our audience for high quality Asian film and television content," Ong said.
