TOKYO -- Fuji TV
beat its four commercial rivals and pubcaster NHK to top all three
ratings categories for 2007, according to figures released by Video
Research.
Fuji's sweep was its fourth in a row. The net scored an
average rating of 8.7 for the all-day category (6 a.m. to midnight),
13.8 for primetime (7 p.m. to 11 p.m.) and 13.8 for what the Japanese
call golden time (7 p.m. to 10 p.m.).
The highest-rated show was
the women's freestyle competition of the 2007 World Figure Skating
Championships, which scored 38.1 on March 24. Among regularly skedded
shows, the Fuji drama series "Galileo" grabbed the highest rating -- 24.7 -- for its first episode, aired on Oct. 15.
