Collaboration Ent., an L.A.-based company that acts as a producers rep
and international sales agent, is launching at this year's AFM.
Company,
headed by Kristine Kreska and Iggy Kos, has a debut slate full of
big-budget movies led by "The Lost Gold of Khan," an adventure pic that
begins shooting in February in Asia and the U.S. Pic is produced and
directed by Mark Roemmich, an industry veteran with a special effects background who was exec producer of "Ask the Dust."
Roemmich
claims to use a unique production financing structure closer to that
employed in TV than in film. He avoids completion bonds but instead
makes use of insurance.
Collaboration lineup is backed by New
York-based Indian investor Anand Bharadwaj, who Kreska and Roemmich say
is providing $90 million for first three movies.
"Lost Gold" is
budgeted at $54 million, while Roemmich's next helming effort, "Snow
Princess," a fantasy actioner set in Eastern Europe and the Middle
East, is pitched at $65 million. Company is also repping "Children of
the Runes: The Chronicles of Shi," an animated feature directed by Willi Patterson and produced by Roemmich's Noble House Entertainment Pictures.
