HONG KONG – Hong Kong's Independent Commission Against Corruption has charged two employees of pubcaster Radio Television Hong Kong with making false claims relating to script-writing and research fees.

ICAC named program officer Chan King-chong and producer Vera Lee. It alleges that Chan dishonestly used documents to show that his mother had provided services to the broadcaster and that it paid out HK$93,600 ($12,100)

In a separate case, the ICAC accused Lee of pocketing $2,440 in script-writing and research fees. Both will appear in court on Monday.

Pubcaster, which is fighting for survival after a gov't review suggested that it should be scrapped and replaced, was recently damaged when its director of broadcasting Chu Pui-hing resigned as a result of a sex scandal (Variety, July 10, 2007).
