Producers present films at J-Pitch

Launched at last year's Tokyo Intl. Film Festival, the J-Pitch project -- linking Japanese producers with foreign partners -- made its PIFF debut on Tuesday with three pitches, all from industry vets.

All, however, were making their first public presentations of projects to an overseas aud, under the auspices of Co-Production PRO.

Hiromi Honoki of Gaga Communications led off with "Run! Run! Run!," a drama, based on a novel by Nozomi Katsura set in the world of marathon relay running.

Yukinari Hanawa will direct.

Shunsuke Kamimura of Soft on Demand next presented "King's Game," a "Matrix"-esque pic about five men and five women, hooked to terminals, playing a virtual game that allows them to live out all their desires -- though only one can emerge the winner.

Manga artist Tatsuya Egawa will script and direct, based on his own original idea.

Last was Chikako Nakabayashi of Booster Project with "Tundra Blueice," a tale of two kids living in a frozen land.

Skedded to be shot in Iceland, the pic is based on a comic by Moyoko Anno, whose work also inspired the Mika Ninagawa hit "Sakuran."

Film will be directed by Yumiko Ito produced by Toshimichi Otsuki. King Records is contributing most of the $2 million budget.
