China has launched the country's first round-the-clock Tibetan-language TV channel.
Monday
relaunch of Tibet Television Station, which previously had a shorter
schedule, was carefully timed to coincide with China's National Day and
emphasize China's sovereignty in the territory.
According to
official news agency Xinhua, net mainly targets the 2.8 million Tibetan
population in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, as well as
overseas Tibetans in India and Nepal.
Content is a mix of local news, traditional folk music and series translated into Tibetan.
China officially has some 50 plus minority ethnic groups.
