HONG KONG -- Asian animators and graphic artists will have a chance to
put their tech suppliers through their paces next year with the launch
of Siggraph Asia.
First show will be held in Singapore Dec. 10-13, 2008, with 2009 edition relocating to Yokohama, Japan.
A
spin-off from ACM Siggraph event in the U.S., the show will feature “a
wide spectrum of anchor programs designed to appeal to the event’s
target audience, such as academics, professionals, artists, animators
and students,” organizers Koelnmesse said in a statement. “The
conference and exhibition will feature high-quality and original
research papers, a computer animation festival, and hands-on courses
and tutorials in the latest computer graphics and interactive
techniques.”
Some 6,000 attendees are estimated to visit the trade exhibition and nearly 1,000 delegates are forecast for the conference.
“The
art and science of computer graphics are advancing in quantum leaps,”
said Lee Yong Tsui, conference chair, Siggraph Asia 2008. “Given the
high-quality contents that we seek to offer, we expect the computer
graphics fraternity to be amazed by the cutting edge developments on
show at Siggraph Asia 2008.”
