HOLLYWOOD -- UCLA Film School, MCorp. Global and a slew of orgs gave
L.A. a preview of the summer's Indian Splendor event March 24 at
Westwood's Hammer Museum.
Bollywood pic "Eklavya: The Royal Guard" unspooled, followed by a Q&A with director Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
Robert Rosen,
dean of the UCLA film school, said school reps will select the five
pics that will unspool Aug. 10-14, ending with Aug. 15 celebration for
the 60th anni of India's independence. Hyde Park principal Ashok
Amritraj will be the ambassador for the event, said, "I've represented
India here in Hollywood for a long time and it's nice to talk about the
culture and art and all the things that India has to offer." Dr. B.K. Modi, whose MCorp. is co-sponsoring event, said, "You can't take people to the theater, you have to bring theater to them."
